Preserving Al Khamsa/Sahanad Arabians The Arabian mare Sahanad was the last Straight Davenport mare that was tail-female to the infamous War Mare *Wadduda. *Wadduda was a prized mare of Homer Davenport and was given to him as a gift from the Bedouins. A high honor I am sure as she was a prized war mare that fought many battle including going over 100 miles with an injured fetlock in just 11 hours. *Wadduda was known for her athletic ability, type, loyalty and beauty. All aspects passed on through her get. Sahanad herself was a lovely mare in black but what was most special about this mare was her disposition. She never seemed to tire of people and was the easiest to handle according to her owners over the years. She passed that on through several generations and you tend to just know a Sahanad horse when you meet them. My experience with these bloodlines are that they are hardy, beautiful and the most true “in your tent” horses you will ever find. You can go into my pasture and be surrounded in less than a minute by these horses wanting to give love and be loved. It is truly amazing how much they become part of the family. While we do focus on Sahanad our horses have a diverse offering of other bloodlines. For example we partnered with Desert Heritage Arabians to purchase Cale Marquess who not only is a rare line to the almost extinct line of Kamil Ibn Sahanad she brings in Saud and the very endangered Crane elements into the mix of our horses. You will find more information on the bloodlines of my horses through my up and coming blog posts. So stay tuned for more information.
HPF Sahanads Hope Double Sahanad Granddaughter Pictured at 24 years of age. It is easy to see the consistency that Sahanad brings out into these horses. They have a "look" that goes right into a person's soul. It is hard not to fall in love with these horses.
